ARVO PÄRT 90 – A CELEBRATORY CONCERT

On 11th September 2025, Estonian composer Arvo Pärt will celebrate his 90th birthday, which will be marked by a number of concerts and other important events across Europe and around the world.

To celebrate this event, and the first anniversary of the formation of the honorary consulate to Estonia in Limerick, Saint Mary’s Cathedral will host a special free lunchtime concert on Tuesday 23rd September at 1.15pm. The concert will feature selected music by Pärt, in the presence of Her Excellency, the Estonian ambassador to Ireland.

Speaking of the event, the Estonian Ambassador to Ireland, Ms Kairi Künka, says

The Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Dublin, the Honorary Consul of Estonia in Limerick and the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia invite music lovers and media to celebrate the 90th anniversary of world-renowned composer Maestro Arvo Pärt. The concert will feature selected works from Pärt’s deeply spiritual and contemplative repertoire, performed by local musicians. This event offers a unique opportunity to experience the timelessness and quiet beauty of Arvo Pärt’s music and his influence on contemporary classical music.

The musical chamber programme for this event reflects a special collaboration between Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, Ireland and the Arvo Pärt Centre, Laulasmaa, Estonia.
