Issuing vital statistics certificates at the embassy

A vital statistics certificate (for a birth, death, marriage, divorce, name change) is issued to the person for whom it was drawn up or to his or her representative. To obtain a certificate, you must apply to the Dublin embassy for a vital statistics certificate.

The state fee for ordering an extract is 20 euros.

Proof of other circumstances

The consul may issue a certificate on the facts known to them on the basis of data from Estonian national registers or other official Estonian documents. For example:

Certificate from the Criminal Records Database

Certificates from the Criminal Records Database are issued by the Estonian Centre of Registers and Information Systems. The certificate is in Estonian and can be ordered electronically (if you have an ID card, PINs, and an ID card reader) and by email and post. To order by email, you must fill in the application form, sign it digitally, and send it to [email protected]; to order by post, you must send the application form to the Criminal Records Database, Lubja 4, 19081 Tallinn. When ordering by post, please specify the Estonian Embassy in Dublin as the recipient of the document so that the original certificate reaches the embassy directly.

Requesting information about yourself from the Criminal Records Database is free of charge.

The consul can issue an English-language document on the basis of an Estonian-language original certificate from the Criminal Records Database.

In addition to the original certificate, to order an English-language certificate, you must submit a filled-out consul certificate forma copy of your passport or ID card, and a receipt for the payment of the state fee. The state fee for ordering a certificate is 30 euros.
