Three Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania joined the European Union in 2004, with Ireland holding the European Union Presidency at the time.
To bring peoples of the three Baltic states and Ireland closer together as well as to mark the 20th anniversary of this historic European Union enlargement Ambassadors of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to Ireland will launch the First Cork Baltic Film Festival. This festival will provide people of Ireland with a unique opportunity to learn more about the lives, history and culture of the three Baltic states.
When: 19-20 April 2024.
Venue: Triskel Arts Centre, Tobin Street, Cork.
Films and screening times:
April 19, at 7.00 pm an Estonian feature movie “Living Images” will be screened, followed by a panel with filmmaker Hardi Volmer.
April 20, at 5.00 pm a Lithuanian documentary feature movie “Kisses, Juozas”
April 20, at 7 pm a Latvian feature movie „Soviet Milk“
The inaugural reception of the First Cork Baltic Film Festival will take place in Triskel Arts Centre on April 19, at 6 pm before screening of the first movie.Join us this month for the first Baltic Film Festival in Ireland.
